6 days Camel trekking - Itinerary:
Day 1: From Mhamid El ghizlane to Kra'aat Jmal
After getting to know your team depart from Mhamid in the south of Morocco for an excellent 6-days trekking by camel. You will start your trip by crossing the rocky desert then the small dunes of Khn'ata. The Caravan will stop in El Bour for a delicious lunch under the Tamarisk tree and get good repose before we head to the dunes of Kra'aat Jmal, where you will spend the first night in a Berber tent or under the stars. Enjoying the dinner around the fire under a starry night is an unforgettable moment. Our team will always be supporting you for having more comfort.
Day 2: Kra'aat Jmal to Erg Bougarn
After a lovely sunrise and a good breakfast, We continue to Erg Bougarn. You will cross all features of the Sahara desert, Such as Hammada, Reg and Erg. After 2 hours of walking, we will stop for lunch under the Tamarisk tree in El khandag. In the afternoon, our adventure in the desert continues to Erg Bougarn; we will arrive before the sunset. Setting up the camp in the middle of the dunes is another special night that you will watch how nomads make the sand bread (Bread baked in hot sand)—musical evening around the fire and night under the stars.
Day 3: From Erg Bougarn dunes to Erg Chegaga
Today, we will carry the trekking equipment on the camels and continue walking to Erg Chegaga. There will be lunch and dinner in Chegaga dunes in a desert camp where you can take a shower and spend the night in a comfortable tent. After watching a spectacular sunset from the top of the dunes and enjoying more of the tranquillity and peacefulness of the desert, our team will serve another delicious dinner followed by the traditional nomad's music around the campfire.
Day 4: From Erg Chegaga to Ouad L'aatach
Today we return to Mhamid on the rhythm of camels towards Ouad L'aatach. You will visit the Holly Oasis of Foum La'aalag, the caravans used to stop in this oasis where there is water, palms, dates, and good shade for rest before continuing to Ait Ben Haddou then to Marrakech. Arrive at Ouad L'aatach before the sunset. We will spend the night under the stars or tent.
Day 5: From Ouad L'aatach to Ouad Naam
This Morning the Caravan heads to Oued Naam for the fifth night in the Moroccan desert. Crossing the stony desert, and if you are lucky, you can find some fossils, which means that there was the sea since 300 million years ago. A delicious lunch in a middle way after arriving at Ouad Naam in the afternoon. Night under the stars or tent. Dinner around the fire
Day 6: From Ouad Naam to Mhamid
Today we continue on the road to the rhythm of camels towards M'hamid. We stop for Lunch in Elbour. Elbour means a suitable land for farming in the desert. Arrive at Mhamid in the afternoon, and it will be the time to thank your team for all they have done for you to make your adventure in the desert more comfortable and enjoyable. - A travel backpack: Opt for backpacks or soft bags without frames. Avoid hard bags that could injure camels.
- A small backpack: Essential for items you need immediate access to during the day, as bags carried by camels are less accessible.
- Footwear: Choose shoes or sandals. Walking shoes are unnecessary in the desert; lighter footwear is preferable. If selecting sandals, pack socks as nighttime temperatures drop.
- Clothing: Light attire for the day and warmer garments for the evening, including rain protection. In March, temperatures range from 10°C at night to 26°C during the day.
- Sun protection: Suncream and sunglasses.
- First aid: Include adhesive plasters, dressings, sterile compresses, disinfectant, paracetamol or aspirin tablets/sachets, antidiarrheal medication, eye drops, and blister dressings.
- Flashlight: Preferably a headlamp.
- Water bottle.
- A lighter: Important for burning waste in the desert.
- Small bags: Preferably paper, for daily trash disposal.
- Hermetic bags: Freezer-type bags to protect your camera or phone.
