3 Day Erg Chigaga Excursion - Itinerary:
Day 1: Mhamid to Desert Camp (Camel Trek)
Set off from Mhamid on a camel, leaving the village behind as the vast Sahara Desert unfolds before you with its towering and sweeping dunes. The hour-and-a-half camel ride takes you deep into the heart of the desert, far removed from any signs of civilization, letting you soak in the Sahara's serene beauty. Pause for a delightful picnic lunch. In the afternoon, continue your camel trek to your campsite deep within the dunes. Upon arrival at Erg Douib, as the sun sets, set up camp and take a moment to climb one of the towering dunes to witness the breathtaking sunset. Later, gather around the fire for a traditional Moroccan dinner under the starry desert sky. Drift off to sleep, cradled by the desert's tranquillity, ready to recharge for another day of adventure.
Day 2: Camel Trek to Meet the 4x4 and Continue to Erg Chegaga
Wake early to catch the Sahara's mesmerizing sunrise, where the ever-changing colours of the dunes will leave you in awe. After a traditional Moroccan breakfast, embark on another round of exploration on camelback. The scenic journey, lasting one and a half hours, takes you through even more remote parts of the Sahara, offering an unmatched sense of solitude and peace. At the pre-arranged spot in the desert, transition from camelback to a 4x4 vehicle, infusing your journey with exhilaration. Enjoy an off-road ride through the heart of the desert towards the legendary Erg Chegaga dunes, celebrated for their immense beauty. During the approximately 1.5-hour ride, there'll be plenty of opportunities to capture amazing photos and explore the stunning surroundings. Arrive at the Erg Chegaga camp, where comfort meets the wild charm of the Sahara. Climb a nearby dune to experience the spectacular Sahara sunset, with endless stretches of golden sands and sky. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars, where campfire music, stories, and Berber songs bring the culture of the desert to life. Spend a peaceful night in your tent, enveloped by the endless dunes and serene quiet.
Day 3: Return to Mhamid
Rise early to witness another magnificent desert sunrise. Enjoy a delectable traditional Moroccan breakfast before setting off. Board your 4x4 for the journey back to Mhamid, arriving by 10:00 AM and marking the end of your thrilling 4x4 desert adventure.

- Footwear: Choose shoes or sandals. Walking shoes are unnecessary in the desert; lighter footwear is preferable. If selecting sandals, pack socks as nighttime temperatures drop.
- Clothing: Light attire for the day and warmer garments for the evening, including rain protection. In March, temperatures range from 10°C at night to 26°C during the day.
- Sun protection: Suncream and sunglasses.
- First aid: Include adhesive plasters, dressings, sterile compresses, disinfectant, paracetamol or aspirin tablets/sachets, antidiarrheal medication, eye drops, and blister dressings.
