4 days desert trek in morocco - Itinerary:
Day 1: Begin Your Trek in Morocco – Mhamid to Sidi Naji via Ras Nkhal
Your trek in Morocco begins in the peaceful village of Mhamid, known as the gateway to the Sahara. After meeting your local guide and camel team in the morning, you’ll set off into the vast southern desert.
The route takes you across the Draa Oasis toward Ras Nkhal, where the silence of the Sahara begins to envelop you. As the sun climbs higher, you’ll continue walking through sweeping arid plains and patches of desert vegetation.
By late afternoon, you'll arrive at Sidi Naji, a sacred marabout site surrounded by sand dunes and complete stillness. Camp is set, and you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal around the fire, followed by a peaceful night under the stars.
Day 2: Trek Through the Sahara – Sidi Naji to Erg Zahra
Wake to the sound of silence and a golden sunrise. After breakfast, the Morocco trekking adventure continues into deeper desert terrain. You'll cross a series of small dunes and dry valleys, watching the desert scenery shift as the light changes.
Today’s destination is the stunning Erg Zahra, a remote and pristine dune formation with high ridges and sweeping views. This is a favorite among those who seek a true Sahara trek in Morocco, far from tourist routes.
Arriving in the late afternoon, you'll climb a dune to watch the sunset light up the desert in reds and golds. Dinner is served by the fire, and the evening offers a chance to relax, listen to desert stories, and gaze at the stars.
Day 3: Discover Remote Dunes – Erg Zahra to Erg Douib via Ait Ounir
The third day of your trek in Morocco takes you even deeper into the desert wilderness. You’ll pass through Erg Ait Ounir, a lesser-known but stunning landscape of rolling dunes and untouched sand seas.
This stretch is peaceful and meditative — a time to connect with the rhythm of the desert and the steady pace of the caravan. It's the kind of remote beauty that makes a Morocco trek feel timeless.
In the afternoon, you'll arrive at Erg Douib, your final desert camp. Here, you'll enjoy one last magical night in the dunes, warmed by a fire and immersed in the natural rhythm of the Sahara.
Day 4: Return to Mhamid – Erg Douib to Mhamid via Ras Nkhal
Rise early to catch the desert sunrise one last time. After a light breakfast, begin your return journey toward Mhamid, passing once again through Ras Nkhal and across the quiet desert plains.
As the village comes into view, your guide will lead the camels back to camp, and your 4-day trek in Morocco will come to a close. Enjoy a final tea, share memories, and say farewell to your camel team and guides.
This trek leaves not only footprints in the sand, but lasting impressions in the heart — a true adventure in the Moroccan Sahara.
