Program 6 days

Day 1: From Marrakech to Dades Gorges

Morning departure from Marrakech to Dades Gorges by 4x4 around 8:30 am. Pass by The high Atlas Mountain (Tizi-n-Tichka, 2260m), where you will discover the beauty of the high Atlas Mountain and the fascinating Berber villages. After Tichka passes, the landscape is more desertic and has stunning colours until we arrive at Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco's most famous Kasbahs. In 1987, the Kasbah was selected for the UNESCO World Heritage List. You will visit this old Kasbah before continuing to Dades Gorges via Ouarzazate, Skoura Oasis and The Valley of Roses in Kelaat M'gouna—dinner and night in a guest house in Dades.

Day 2: From Dades Gorge to Merzouga

Depart from Dades to Merzouga by 4x4 at 9:00 am. Today, you will discover another stunning Gorge, Todra, famous among the climbers. You will walk in the middle of the gorge to take photos and enjoy the landscape. The trip continues via Tinjdad and Erfoud before arriving at Merzouga in the afternoon. You will ride the camel for 2 hours to the desert camp, passing the magnificent immense dunes. The dunes' colour and shade give an unforgettable panoramic view and the moment to take memorable photos. Stop in the middle way to enjoy the best sunset from the top of the dune. Night and dinner will be in a charming desert camp under the stars, followed by a musical evening around the fire.

Day 3: From Merzouga to Zagora

If you wake up early enough, you can enjoy the spectacular sunrise from the top of the dunes. After breakfast, we drive from Merzouga to Zagora, passing by Rissani, where there is the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, the third great-grandfather of Moulay Cherif, founder of the Alaouite Dynasty of Morocco. And Nkob, the village of 45 Kasbahs, is surrounded by two oases full of palm trees—and Alnif town. Today, you will also explore the longest river in Morocco, the Draa River. And dive into the ancient caravan road. Dinner and night will be at the guest house in the Draa Oasis.

Day 4: From Zagora to Erg Chegaga

After breakfast, we drive to Mhamid, the last town before the Sahara desert; pass by Tamagroute, where you will visit the Old Library and the Koranic school with a local guide. Arrive in Mhamid for lunch, then continue to Erg Chegaga, crossing 62 km off-road. You will pass by Labour, the old land that nomads used to cultivate wheat and barley, but not any longer because the draught and sand cover most of the flat. But it is still a good spot for nomadic families and their animals. The desert trip continues to cross Hammada, the rocky desert. We arrive at Erg Chegaga camp in the afternoon. Here, you will spend the night in the Berber tent. After a good rest, you have free time to explore the Chegaga dunes and enjoy the stunning sunset from the top of the dunes. Dinner and night in the desert camp under the stars.

Day 5: From Erg Chegaga To Ouarzazate

If you wake up early enough, you can enjoy the spectacular sunrise from the top of the dunes of Chigaga. After a delicious breakfast, we continue in the direction of Foum Zguid. The off-road is 100 km driving in the Sahara desert with varying scenery, including the lake Iriqui. It is a vast, dry lake nowadays. Where you likely experience the expansive mirage in the heat. We will continue the trip to Lmadwar Mountain, famous for its volcanic rocks. It is also a great spot to discover more about the desert; if lucky, you can find fossils. We reach the nomadic town of Foum Zguid. We take the paved road to Taznakht for lunch; it is a famous town for its Berber rugs and carpets. Arrive in Ouarzazate by the end of the day.

Day 6: From Ouarzazate to Marrakech

After breakfast, you will visit the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate. We drive to Ounila Valley. It was one of the main passageways of hundreds, even thousands of camels in a caravan travelling from the sub-Saharan cities to Marrakech transporting Saharan merchandise and salt. The valley has many villages, kasbahs, green gardens and colourful geology. You will stop to visit the Kasbah of Telouet. After having lunch, we cross the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, the highest pass in Morocco, and reach Marrakesh at the end of the afternoon. Hopefully, you have enjoyed the 6-day desert tour with us from Marrakech to the south of Morocco.
